I’m Sarah, and I help people who feel like the world is crashing down on them find their way back to solid ground.
I know what it’s like when the weight of the world feels too heavy to carry.
There was a time in my life when everything seemed to hit at once. I was battling a serious personal illness while navigating the constant upheaval of moving frequently for my spouse’s career. On top of that, financial instability turned every day into a survival mission. I felt lost, overwhelmed, and completely out of options.
It felt like I was drowning in a storm I couldn't control. I didn’t just want a break; I needed an outlet—a way to survive the chaos without losing myself.
From Survival to Mindful Living
In that rock-bottom moment, I realized that while I couldn’t control the external world, I could change how I moved through it. I began developing a toolkit of mindful living and self-care practices that weren't just "nice to have"—they were my lifeline.
These weren't just breathing exercises; they were a way to reclaim my power when everything else felt unstable. I learned how to:
Quiet the mental noise of financial and health anxieties.
Find a sense of "home" within myself, regardless of where we moved next.
Activate my body's relaxation response to lower cortisol and stop the "fight-or-flight" cycle.
Whether you are navigating a career transition, managing a team, or just trying to stay afloat, stress isn't just in your head—it’s in your body. When you’re constantly juggling demands, your nervous system can get stuck in a "fight-or-flight" loop. This leads to that "wired but tired" feeling, brain fog, and chronic burnout.
My approach focuses on nervous system restoration. I help you:
Lower your stress baseline so you aren't reacting to every fire.
Restore your mental clarity so you can make decisions with ease.
Build a resilience toolkit of simple, daily habits that keep you centered, even when things get chaotic.
Why I Coach
I created Rocky Trails and Rainbows because I believe no one should have to navigate life’s toughest trails alone. No one should have to choose between a successful life and a peaceful one. My struggle became my greatest teacher, and now I use those lessons to help you.
Whether you are dealing with burnout, life transitions, or chronic stress, I provide a compassionate, evidence-based approach to help you move from "just getting by" to truly living again. We won't just talk about stress—we will build the practical skills you need to stay centered when the world feels loud.
You’ve been strong for long enough. Let’s find your calm, together.
Let me tell you a bit about my background and qualifications:
Iliff School of Theology, M.Div.
I have a Master of Divinity from Iliff School of Theology, a United Methodist seminary school that welcomes many faith traditions. It’s recognized globally for its focus on peace, justice, and ethics.
In addition to academic training, I learned self-care and self-awareness through my spiritual care courses. Spiritual care looks a lot like spiritual direction and coaching, where the emphasis is on listening deeply and being fully present with others.
Benet Hill Monastery, Certified Spiritual Director
After Iliff, I earned my spiritual direction certification through Benet Hill Monastery. This was a time of transformation for me, as I grew spiritually in a way that I had not before. I was introduced to different kinds of spiritual practices and tools for developing my relationship with the divine.
While I was finishing my studies at Benet Hill, I chose to become a certified coach. Coaching, in particular, gave me the skills to help people move forward and reach their goals. It taught me how to ask thoughtful questions to help others reflect and work through their circumstances in a constructive way.
I’ve always felt connected to the divine in a significant way, and I continue to nurture that connection through spiritual practices. I’m a 200-hour yoga teacher, and I’m working on my 300-hour certification. I’m a dedicated lifelong learner and enjoy having something to work on and think about.
I’m very interested in mindful and slow living. The slow living movement emphasizes the need to simplify our lives and slow down to reduce stress and improve our well-being. It encourages us to focus on the present moment and the simple pleasures of life. In this fast-paced and often overwhelming world, I crave peace, and I intentionally cultivate it through mindful living practices. These practices include decluttering, organizing, simplifying my life, and self-care. I also focus on creating aesthetically-pleasing spaces that are cozy, comfortable, and functional. You can read more about my mindful living coaching package here. This program will give you an introduction to these ideas and the tools to practice mindful living for years to come. It helps so much to have the space to process and think about these ideas with a trained professional, and it’s a great form of self-care to take the time for yourself to study with a coach and gain skills that you can use for the future.
Some activities I enjoy include being in nature, hiking, photography, oil painting, and playing the guitar and songwriting. I have a passion for British crime dramas, and I love trying new plant-based recipes in the Instant Pot. I enjoy spending time with my spouse and our two adorable kitties, Mandi and Brinney.
Coaching is transformative, and I'm passionate about what I do. You can discover more about our current offerings here, and reach out if you have any questions.
